Quick Fish Curry





This fish curry is very easy and quick to prepare.The ingredients are very simple and can be assembled very quickly especially if you are in a hurry.Its tasty and goes well with Rice.


Preparation Time - 5-7 minutes.
Cooking Time - 20 min

Ingredients :-

1. 4 Halibut Fish fillets ( you can use Rohu/Carp/Bass/Cod/Mackarel  fish fillets) marinated with sprinkle of turmeric powder and salt as per your taste.
2. Wet spice mixture ( 2 tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar or White vinegar +1/4 teaspoon each of Paprika or kashmiri chilly powder + turmeric powder + sugar )
3. Dry Roast,cool and then grind ( 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds+ 1 teaspoon cumin seeds+ 2 green cardamoms+1/2 inch cinnamon + 2-3 cloves /lobongo + 1/2 teaspoon Black Mustard Seeds )[I added 1/8th teaspoon of Cinnamon powder into the ground spice mix instead of dry roasting 1/2 inch cinnamon ].
4. About 1 and 1/2 cup finely chopped Onion.
5. 1/2 tablespoon of Garlic crushed.
6. Salt as per your taste.
7. Water as needed to make the curry.
8. Oil ( I used Peanut oil about 5 teaspoon ) you can use Mustard oil/Vegetable oil /Sunflower oil/Canola Oil.

Preparation:-

1. Marinate the fish and keep aside.
2. Prepare the wet spice paste.
3. Prepare the dry roasted and ground dry spice mixture.
4. Chop the onion and crush and chop the garlic.

Cooking:-

1. Take an utensil add about 4-5 teaspoon of oil or as needed and fry the marinated fish.Keep the fish aside.
2. Next in the same oil ( reduce the amount of oil if needed) add the crushed garlic and fry til the garlic turns light brown followed by the chopped onion.
3. Fry the onion til it is begins to turn golden and at this stage add the wet spice  paste and mix.
4. Add very little water ( about 2 tablespoon) and fry  ,then add the dry spice mixture and very little ( about 2 tablespoon ) of water and mix everything together.
5. Lastly add about 1 cup of water  and salt as per your taste and bring it to a simmer.When it is simmering slowly place the fish and cook covered for about 3 minutes turning the fish after about 1 min.
6. The fish curry is ready to be served.It goes best with hot steamed rice.
